Mom and I were in the hospital for two nights and got released on Friday. Things are going really well. We have some nights that are better than others, but really, I just want to hang out, and right now, the only way I can do that at night is to cry a little. Mom and Dad have handled it pretty well so far. We'll see how they hold up for the long run. I've got lots more in me. Mom sings me a few lullabies right now. She says she's going to learn more.
Mom and Dad tell me constantly how cute I am. They especially like it when I have my eyes open. I only show them a few times a day right now...I really like to sleep.
We had our first Pediatric appointment with Dr. Tholany on Monday afternoon. I think I like her pretty well. She said that the hospitals do some sort of rating of your newborn, based on their health and physical things, and the doc said most babies get 8's or 9's and that they never ever see 10s, but they gave me a 10! She also said that newborns usually lose a bit of weight early on, b/c they're waiting for Mom's milk to come in. My Mom's milk came in sometime over the weekend and so now I weigh 7 lbs 11 oz, which means I gained 5 oz in 5 days, which they said is ideal.
I'm sure Mom would like it if I bragged about her a bit (even though this blog is about me). Mom was back at her pre-pregnancy weight by day 3, and is now down another 4 lbs! She's sure the weight loss will slow down a lot now, as Mom gets used to eating more to accommodate me. And she still has a bit of a belly, so she'll have to work that off, but she's pretty proud of how she's doing so far. She told Dad that that means she dropped 20 lbs in 6 days. Of course, I'm over 7 lbs of that, and the rest is probably all water. There was a LOT of water in there. Which reminds me, I should tell you all a little about the birth! I'll leave that for another day, though.
Time for another nap. Talk soon!
Love,
Lola
